SEASON IN REVIEW: 2025 Women’s Lacrosse

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team competed in 16 matches including a week trip with two games in Florida during spring break in their first season in the SUNYAC in 2025 under Head Coach Adam Todd.

Maddy Caron and Caroline Nappi combined for nine goals and two assists and Laura Falandys earned her first career win in a Canton uniform as the Roos evened their record at 1-1 with an early season 14-3 win at Russell Sage on March 1st. Lindsey Wunder recorded six points on four goals and two assists, all in a furious fourth quarter comeback by the Roos before they ultimately fell to St. Lawrence 13-10 on three days later.

Canton had a strong spring break trip to Florida where they won both of their contests. The team's captains, Caron and Wunder, combined for eight goals as the Roos doubled up Fitchburg State 10-5 in the second half of a 13-11 win on March 10th. Three days later Caron and Wunder teamed up for nine goals and four assists, while Olivia McCormick recorded a season-high four points on two goals and two assists in an 18-9 win against Manhattanville.

The Roos stayed hot upon their return to New York coasting to a 22-4 win against SUNY Poly on March 19th behind four goals and two assists from Ava Dupee. Canton picked up its first ever SUNYAC win with a 10-7 road victory at Potsdam on March 26th. Olivia Scott stopped eight of the nine shots she faced in the second half of the win, while Maddy Caron led all players with five goals.
After stumbling with four straight league losses the Roos bounced back with back-to-back wins. Despite the loss Scott set a single-game program saves record with 23 in an 18-16 loss at Oneonta on April 12th. Ten different players scored in a convincing 20-3 win against Morrisville on April 15th as Caron and Wunder combined for seven goals and six assists.

Dupee and Caron tallied eight goals and five assists in a 15-6 win against Plattsburgh on Senior Day. The Roos narrowly missed out on the playoffs in their first season in the SUNYAC.
During the season Caron was named the SUNYAC Offensive Athlete of the Week (3/17/25), while Scott was recognized as the Defensive Athlete of the Week (4/21/25). Following the season both players earned SUNYAC Second Team All-Conference honors.

Caron was named the SUNY Canton Athletics department's Co-Female Student-Athlete of the Year at their end of year banquet. She finished the season ranking extremely high in a number of statistics in the SUNYAC including: first in shots on goal (101), second in goals (63), second in draw controls (108) and third in points (79). Caron will graduate with a number of program records including: career goals (252), career draw controls (446), single-season goals (73 – 2024) and single-season draw controls (129 – 2023).

Scott finishes her career with the single-game saves (23) and single-season saves records (166) as she set the former this season and the latter during the 2023 season, and she finishes second all-time in career saves (465) trailing just Becca Kieffer's 519.

Caron and Scott were also named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large Academic All-District Team for carrying at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and participating in at least 90% of their teams games or starting at least 66% of contests.

Eleven members (Jaedyn Awan, Maddy Caron, Scarlet Ditoro, Sydney Dunn, Ava Dupee, Laura Falandys, Shelby Goeke, Olivia McCormick, Madi Miller, Olivia Scott, Ali Servati) of the women's lacrosse team were named to the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for carrying a 3.30 or higher cumulative GPA for the 2024-25 academic year.
