Fourteen Roos Record Points in 22-4 Win at Poly

Utica, NY – Fourteen different SUNY Canton women's lacrosse players recorded a point as the Roos cruised to a 22-4 non-conference win at SUNY Poly on Wednesday. Overall six different players had multi-point outings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos jumped out to an early 4-1 lead just over seven minutes in behind two goals and two assists from Lindsey Wunder and two other goals from Maddy Caron. Abbey Albro and Sienna Hillicke also scored with Caron adding a third goal as Canton led 7-2 after the opening quarter.
  • Canton controlled the second stanza outscoring the Wildcats 6-2 in the quarter behind three goals from Olivia McCormick. The Roos led 13-4 at intermission.
  • The Roos kept the foot on the gas pedal outscoring the hosts 6-0 in the fourth quarter as they held a commanding 19-4 lead after three quarters of action. Ava Dupee scored twice in the quarter with Caron, Jaedyn Awan, Sydney Dunn and Caroline Nappi all finding the back of the net.
  • Dupee, Lily Hargarther and Kenadie Garrow all scored in the fourth quarter with Hargarther and Garrow netting their first career goals to conclude the victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Wunder led all players with seven points and five assists while adding two goals, three ground balls and two draw controls. Dupee tallied six points on four goals and two assists, while Caron recorded game-highs of five goals, 13 draw controls and five ground balls to go with two caused turnovers. With her five goals she is just four away from setting the Roos program record alone with 222 career goals.
  • McCormick finished the game with three goals and one assist, while Nappi and Hillicke registered a goal and two assists each. Dunn, Garrow, Albro, Awan, Hargarther and Aayliah White recorded one goal each with Megan Montgomery and Molly Sweeney tallying an assist each. The goals marked the first career tallies for Hargarther and Garrow, while Awan and Albro scored their first goal of the season. Montgomery's assist was her first career point.
  • Callie Johnson paced Poly with two goals, while Makenzie Pierce added a goal and assist.
  • The Roos controlled shots on goal (31-6), ground balls (37-11) and draw controls (23-7). Canton was 14-for-16 on clears, while Poly was 13-for-29.
  • Olivia Scott made two saves in the win, while Jayden Brown turned aside nine shots in defeat.
