Caron & Nappi Combine for 11 Points in Road Win vs. Gators

Albany, NY – Maddy Caron and Caroline Nappi combined for nine goals and two assists and Laura Falandys earned her first career win in a Canton uniform as the Roos earned a convincing 14-3 road win at Russell Sage on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Maddy Caron scored Canton's first goal of the game for the second consecutive outing before Aimee Rodriguez knotted the score at one apiece just over a minute later.
  • The Roos scored four unanswered goals as Olivia McCormick, Caron, Nappi and Morgan Montgomery all scored in the run to give Canton a 5-1 lead after the opening quarter.
  • Canton dominated play in the second quarter outscoring the Gators 6-0 as five different Roos scored in the stanza. The Roos led 11-1 at intermission.
  • With the game in hand the second half proved to have much less scoring with Canton holding a slim 3-2 edge after halftime.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Caron led all players with six points on five goals and one assist to go with five draw controls and four caused turnovers. Nappi finished with four goals and an assist, while Montgomery had two goals and two assists. Lindsey Wunder supplied a goal and game-high three assists to go with two caused turnovers, two ground balls and a draw control. McCormick (1 goal, 1 assist) and Sienna Hillicke (two assists) also had multi-point outings.
  • Alexis Crossman led the Gators with two goals, six draw controls, six caused turnovers and five ground balls.
  • Falandys made five saves to earn her first win at Canton in her debut with the Roos. Olivia Brand made six stops in the loss for Russell Sage.
  • The Roos controlled shots (24-19) and shots on goal (20-8).
