Ten Roos Score in Convincing SUNYAC Win vs. Morrisville

Canton, NY – Maddy Caron and Lindsey Wunder combined for seven goals and six assists as 10 different Roos found the back of the net in a 20-3 SUNYAC win against visiting SUNY Morrisville on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos controlled play from the start on Monday as they took a 4-0 lead after the opening quarter behind two goals from Caron and one each from Morgan Montgomery and Caroline Nappi.
  • Canton dominated in the second stanza outscoring the Mustangs 9-0 in the quarter. The Roos caged a pair of goals down a player and then added six even-strength goals and another with the player advantage. Caron had three goals and an assist in the quarter while Dupee had two goals and an assist. Wunder, Nappi, Megan Montgomery and Kenadie Garrow also scored as Canton led 13-0 at intermission.
  • The Roos netted the first four goals of the third quarter to extend their lead to 17-0. Anyssia Ingersoll got the Mustangs on the board with 3:57 remaining in the third quarter to break up the shutout as Laura Falandys stopped the first four shots she faced.
  • The Roos led 19-1 after three quarters as Abbey Albro netted her second goal of the season with one minute left.
  • Ali Servati added her first goal of the season and just the second of her career in the fourth quarter for the 20-3 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Caron led the Roos with five goals, three assists, seven draw controls and four ground balls, while Wunder tallied two goals, three assists, two ground balls and two draw controls. Dupee added three goals and one assist, while Olivia McCormick scored once and dished out three assists.
  • Morgan Montgomery scored three times, while her sister Megan registered her first career goal. Nappi registered two goals and one assist, while Garrow, Albro, Servati and Megan Montgomery scored once each. Aayliah White and Dupee led the defense with three caused turnovers each, while Sienna Hillicke and Jaedyn Awan forced two turnovers each.
  • Ingersoll paced Morrisville with two goals, eight draw controls, six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Falandys made five saves in the win to improve to 4-1 on the season. Aniyah Smith stopped seven shots in the first half for the Mustangs in defeat, while Rebecca Thomas turned aside three shots in the second half.
  • The Roos controlled shots on goal (30-8), ground balls (27-16) and draw controls (15-10). Canton was 15-for-17 on clears while Morrisville was 10-for-27.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are back in SUNYAC action on Friday when they host Plattsburgh State at 4 p.m. The team will celebrate Senior Day.
