Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team competed in 13 games in their second season as a member of the SUNYAC in 2026 under first year Head Coach
Cam Talcott.
The Roos opened the season with a
12-10 win against VTSU Castleton on February 25.
Eli Bullock led the offense with three goals and two assists,
Liam Waite won 15 faceoffs and picked up seven ground balls and
Hayden Todd made 14 saves in the victory.
After a tight loss to SUNY Poly and another road setback at Alfred, the Roos dominated play in a 19-2 road win at Hilbert on March 21.
Nathan Taylor and
Brady Frost combined for 15 points on 10 goals and five assists in the victory.
Todd set the new Roos D-III era program record for career saves when he stopped 16 shots in a road loss at Cortland on March 28. The senior also owns the
single-game saves program mark when he stopped 35 shots against the Red Dragons last season (4/12/25).
The Roos played one of their best games of the season in a tight 8-5 loss to Morrisville on April 7. Todd was impressive stopping 18 of the 26 shots he faced (.692 save %) in defeat including
stopping 10 of the 12 shots he faced in the first quarter. Another strong team performance came in their 13-8 loss to Plattsburgh (9-3, 4-1 SUNYAC) on Senior Day on April 18 as Canton was down just 6-4 at intermission.
Jonney Mclear caged a career-high five goals in the contest.
Mclear led the Roos with 28 points and 25 goals, while Frost also recorded 20 plus points with 16 points and six assists. Bullock tallied a team-best seven assists, while adding 12 goals. Defensively
Cade Fregoe led the team with 22 caused turnovers and added 34 ground balls.
Liam Waite won 95 faceoffs and picked up a team-best 37 ground balls.
Todd started all 11 games for the Roos recording both wins, 130 saves and a .489 save %. He finishes his career with a program record 676 career saves.
