Todd Sets New Roos D-III Era Program Record for Career Saves in Road Tilt at Cortland

Cortland, NY – With 16 saves on Saturday senior Hayden Todd set a new Roos D-III era program record for career saves as he now has 606 breaking the previous mark of 603 held by Kody Kocsis '19. Todd played just over half of the game on Saturday as the Roos fell 34-2 in SUNYAC play at Cortland.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Dragons controlled play from the start outscoring the Roos 12-0 in the first quarter including a goal from Sean Kavanagh as time expired in the first quarter. Nine different players scored in the stanza for Cortland as Todd made seven first quarter stops.
  • The hosts continued firing on all cylinders in the second scoring 10 more goals as Todd made eight more saves. With his second to last save of the second quarter with 3:10 left until halftime Todd set the Roos new program record. The Red Dragons led 22-0 at intermission.
  • Canton got on the board in the third quarter when Michael Newcomb found Brady Frost for the tally. Jonney Mclear would add a late score as Cortland outscored the Roos 12-2 in the second half for the 34-2 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Nathan Taylor led the Roos with four ground balls, while Eli Bullock added three. Parker Hunt caused a pair of turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
  • Nick Stoecker paced the Red Dragons with four goals and three assists, while Stefan Swedlund added four goals and an assist. Kavanagh added three goals and three assists.
  • Charlie Falowski made two saves without allowing a goal over the first 23 minutes to earn the win, while Jack Lucidi, Max Moran and Asher Harrison saw time in net in relief.
  • Todd made 16 saves allowing 25 goals over the first 33:38, while Garritt Palmer turned aside three shots surrendering nine goals in relief.
  • Cortland controlled shots on goal (53-6), ground balls (62-18) and faceoffs (35-3). The Re Dragons were 15-for-20 on clears, while Canton was 13-for-26.
