Canton, NY – Hayden Todd had had 16 saves on 30 shots faced, but the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team fell 14-2 on a day which proved challenging to score against the Potsdam Bears on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a low-scoring defensive battle early in the contest with plenty of fast paced action and lots of turnovers.
- SUNY Canton had five shots on goal, but Saka Thompson, one of the top goalies in the SUNYAC, made saves on all of Canton's shots. Potsdam got on the board twice in the first quarter.
- Potsdam ended up scoring three more times in the second quarter, before Brady Frost fired a laser to into the back of the Potsdam net which also happened to be the only shot on goal in the period.
- The Bears logged three more goals late in the quarter to pull ahead 8-1 at the half.
- In the third quarter, Jonney Mclear had two shots on net but could not cash in. The Roos were strong defensively with Potsdam turning it over eight times, but the Bears still scored twice to get ahead 10-1.
- Barely before the game was about to end, Mclear went nearly coast-to-coast to score Canton's second goal, but an overall rough offensive night concluded the game 14-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Frost had his 16th goal of the season and Mclear got his 21st in the loss. Mclear also led the Roos with six ground balls.
- Billy Kozloski and Rowisonkies Barnes combined for over half of the Potsdam goals with Kozloski getting five and Barnes four.
- The Bears led shots on goal 30-12 and also had 51 ground balls while SUNY Canton was at 26. The Roos really struggled clearing the ball going only 13-for-31 on the night.
- Todd made 16 saves, surrendering 14 goals. The two Potsdam netminders combined to make 10 saves on 12 shots on net.

The Roos will play their final game of the 2026 season against the Oneonta Red Dragons on the road on Saturday, April 25 at 2 p.m.
