Taylor & Frost Combine for 15 Points in Road Win at Hilbert

Hamburg, NY – Nathan Taylor and Brady Frost combined for 15 points on 10 goals and five assists to lead the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team to a 19-2 road win at Hilbert on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Hawks scored the lone goal in a low scoring first quarter off the stick of Eric Capling midway through the stanza.
  • The Roos dominated the second quarter outscoring host Hilbert 10-0 in the quarter. Taylor scored Canton's first three goals and Frost, Charles Grandaw and Michael Newcomb also scored two goals each in the quarter as Canton took a 10-1 halftime lead.
  • Canton kept their foot on the gas pedal outscoring the Hawks 6-1 in the third quarter behind three more scores from Taylor.
  • The Roos closed out the convincing win outscoring Hilbert 3-0 in the fourth quarter with goals from Frost, Newcomb and Eli Bullock.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Taylor led the Roos with eight points on six goals and two assists and added four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Frost registered seven points on four goals and three assists, while Grandaw and Newcomb tallied three goals and one assist each. Bullock finished with a pair of goals. Liam Waite was dominate at the X going 15-for-21 on faceoffs and picking up a game-high 11 ground balls.
  • Capling and Kristopher Newman scored the lone goals for Hilbert.
  • Hayden Todd stopped two of the three shots he faced in the first half earning the win, while Garritt Palmer turned aside five of six shots in the second half.
  • Jose Pizarro took the loss stopped eight of the 24 shots he faced in the first three quarters, while Kody Moore made one save on four shots in the final quarter.
  • The Roos controlled shots on goal (28-9), ground balls (47-23) and faceoffs (16-9). Canton was 17-for-19 on clears turning the ball over 18 times, while Hilbert was 12-for-23 on clears turning it over 28 times.
