Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team competed in 13 games in their first season as a member of the SUNYAC in 2025 under Head Coach
Pat Harrington.
The Roos earned a 12-8 win at VTSU Castleton on March 1st to improve their record to .500 early in the season.
Austin Mesler scored six goals and added two assists,
Caeden Goodnough netted four goals and
Hayden Todd made 18 saves
in the win.
One of the team's more exciting games came in their next contest at SUNY Poly as Mesler
eclipsed the 200 career point milestone with game-highs of eight points and five assists but the host Wildcats scored with 22 seconds remaining for a 13-12 win.
Mesler set both program records for
career points (217) and goals (119) in a road tilt at Utica on March 22nd. He finishes his career with both records with 129 goals and 234 points.
Later in the season
Todd set a new program mark for single-game saves with 35 against Cortland on April 12th. In the process he eclipsed the 500 career save mark. Todd now has 546 career saves and sits second on the all-time career saves list behind Kody Kocsis '19 who has 603.
Mesler was named the
SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week on March 3rd. Following the season six members of the team (
Tanner Amell,
Eli Bullock,
Tyler Scott,
Sam Servati, Todd and
Liam Waite) were named to the
SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for having a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher during the 2024-25 academic year. Todd and Scott were also named to the
College Sports Communicator's (CSC) At-Large Academic All-District Team for having a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and participating in at least 90% of their team's contests or starting 66% of their team's matches.
The Roos are expected to lose
Rory McCabe, Mesler, Goodnough, Servati, Amell,
Jake Erskine,
Will Stadler,
Devin Guerriero,
Luke Singler,
Parker Hornung and
Alex Jacobs to graduation.
