Waterville, ME – The SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team has earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament.
The Roos will square off with the No. 2 seed and tournament host SUNY Poly on Friday in Marcy, NY. The game features an exciting rematch as the
Wildcats edged the Roos 16-15 in overtime on SUNY Canton's turf on April 13th.
SUNY Delhi earned the No. 1 seed as the Broncos finished with a 7-1 conference record. The Broncos were unable to host the tournament therefore the Wildcats will with a 6-1 NAC record. The Roos and Mariners tied with identical 6-2 conference records, but the Roos own the head-to-head tiebreaker from their
23-19 win on Sunday as Canton will be the No. 3 seed and Maine Maritime the No. 4.
Semifinal games are Friday, April 29 and the championship match is Sunday, May 1. All games will be hosted by SUNY Poly. The order of semifinals and games times will be finalized Wednesday, April 27, and posted on the NAC website and updated here.
Delhi and Poly enter the 2022 NAC Men's Lacrosse postseason with one loss apiece, while Canton and Maine Maritime only lost twice. Matchups among the top-four teams were split during the regular season as Poly beat Delhi, Maine Maritime beat Poly, and Canton beat Maine Maritime.
The four tournament teams earned a combined 19 weekly awards this spring, including four for
Hunter Olsen of SUNY Canton. Fellow Roo
Alex Jacobs earned three accolades, while Nick Dower and Ben Moscatiello of SUNY Delhi collected a pair of honors.
SUNY Poly won the 2021 championship and is trying to keep the traveling trophy in Marcy. Maine Maritime, Canton, and Delhi are all on the hunt for their first NAC men's lacrosse title.
The 2022 NAC men's lacrosse champions will have to play their best in what is sure to be a competitive conference tournament to represent the NAC in the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship tournament.
