SEASON IN REVIEW: 2024-25 Men’s Basketball

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team defeated teams like Potsdam, New Paltz, Fredonia and Plattsburgh during their first season in the SUNYAC under third year Head Coach Dylan Seikel.

After a tough start to the season, the Roos hit their stride in mid-January rattling off three straight SUNYAC wins. Five different players reached double figures in an 86-71 road win at Potsdam on January 18th behind 20 points from Kevin Goode Jr. and a double-double from Eli Larson.

In perhaps their biggest win of the season six Canton players scored in double figures as the team netted a season-high 98 points in a 98-91 road win against defending SUNYAC champion New Paltz on the road on January 21st. The Roos shot a blistering 59% from the field and 47% from three-point range in the victory.

Three days later balance once again proved to make a difference as five Roos scored 10 or more points paced by 16 points and nine boards from Nate Cohen in a 75-61 win against Fredonia.

The team's final win of the season came in a 93-88 home win against Plattsburgh State on February 15th. Once again the Roos used hot shooting hitting 54% of their field goals and 50% of their threes (14-for-28). Overall, four of the team's losses were decided by six points or fewer including three league games by four points or less.

Four different players averaged double digit points on the season in Goode Jr. (13.3 PPG), Bryon Streb (13.1 PPG), Cohen (11.5 PPG) and Larson (11.0). Following the season Larson and Streb were both named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District.

Larson was recognized as one of SUNY Canton's 2025 Outstanding Baccalaureate Graduate Award winners. He also was tied for the highest male in the SUNY Canton Athletics department with the highest overall cumulative GPA entering the final semester.

The Roos are expected to lose Jevonte Williams, Goode Jr. and Larson to graduation.
