New Paltz, NY – Six SUNY Canton players scored in double figures as the Roos used hot shooting to earn a 98-91 SUNYAC road win at SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday evening. The Roos scored a season-high 98 points and shot a season-best 59% from the field and 47% from three-point range.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The hosts opened an early six point lead (13-7) but Canton responded with an 8-0 run to take a 15-13 lead after an Eli Larson layup just over seven minutes in. The teams were tied at 23 apiece just past the midway point of the opening half.
- Chris Nastasi caught fire for the Roos scoring nine of the team's 11 points in one stretch. Overall, he had 11 points in the span of a 16 point stretch for the Roos spanning less than four minutes of clock time. Following his 11th point of the game the Roos opened a 39-31 advantage with 5:31 left in the first half.
- The Hawks responded with a 16-5 run to take a 47-44 lead. Nastasi responded with another three-pointer and Kevin Goode Jr. hit a pair of free throws as the Roos led 49-47 at the half.
- Nastasi paced the Roos with 14 first-half points, while Larson and Malaki Smith added 10 each. Sean St. Lucia and Dakoda Smith led the Hawks with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
- The Roos opened the second half on an 11-2 run to take a 60-49 lead after a Goode Jr. turnaround jumper.
- The Hawks responded with a 20-8 run to open a 69-68 lead midway through the second half.
- Trailing 75-74 with seven minutes remaining, the Roos went on a 12-2 run to open an 86-77 lead following a Larson layup with 4:30 to play.
- Canton would extend the lead to as many as 11 down the stretch of their second straight conference win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Larson paced the Roos with 19 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season shooting 8-for-9 from the field. Goode Jr. finished with 18 points, while Bryon Streb added 17 points, six rebounds and three assists. Nastasi scored 14 points, all in the first half, while Nate Cohen added 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Smith also scored in double figures with 11 points and added five boards.
- A.J. Knight led all players with 27 points for New Paltz, while Smith (22) and St. Lucia (16) reached double figures.
- Canton shot a blistering 59% from the field and 47% from three-point range compared to marks of 44% and 32%, respectively, for the Hawks.
- The 59% shooting from the field and 47% from three-point range are the highest marks since the Roos set single-game NCAA D-III era program records of 64% and 72%, respectively, in a 102-71 win at Cazenovia on December 3, 2022. Â
- The Roos controlled bench points (25-15), fast break points (15-5) and points in the paint (50-42). The Hawks had the edge in second chance points (23-8) and points off turnovers (15-10).
