Alex Boak team has announced his captains for the 2021-22 season led by senior forward
Sean Shepard (Dexter, NY), who will captain the team this season.
Junior forward
Brendan McCormack (Nutley, NJ), and senior forward
Zach Ahola (Hancock, MI) will serve as assistant captains rounding out the leadership group with Shepard. The men's hockey season will visit SUNY Potsdam on Friday (10/22) and Oswego State on Saturday (10/23) in exhibition games before opening the regular season next weekend.
Since Canton's inaugural NCAA season in the 2012-2013 season Shepard is the sixth captain in program history. This will be Shepard's second season leading the Roos.
Shepard and McCormack were both captain and assistant captain during the 2020-21 season which was put on hold due to COVID-19. Ahola, who has been a consistent leader for the Roos the past three years, will dawn the 'A' for his last season as a Roo.
Shepard has 16 career points on four goals and 12 assists in 48 career games. McCormack posted 11 points on six goals and five assists during his rookie season in 2019-20. Ahola has appeared in 38 career games for Canton tallying a goal and five assists for six points.
"We are very excited about this leadership group," Head Coach
Alex Boak said. "Sean, Brendan, and Zach all carry the values on and off the ice that we want our players to have day in and day out. We have fifth year players and many other senior players that might not be wearing that letter on their jersey but are integral parts to our leadership group this season. We are excited to get things rolling this Friday with an exhibition at Potsdam."
