Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team will feature a strong core of 18 returners coupled with welcoming 11 newcomers to the roster.
The Roos return their top four scorers and eight of their top 10 from a season ago. Senior
Brandon Rodee and junior
Kody Kocsis will serve as the team's captains in 2018, as voted on by the players.
Junior
Josh Yelvington and senior
Trenton Yule return as the top scorers for SUNY Canton each totaling 34 points last season. Yelvington led the Roos with 27 goals and added seven assists, while Yule posted 24 goals and 10 assists.
Kyle Smith (5-21-26) and
Jake Sutton (14-8-22) also finished with more than 20 points.
Rodee led the Roos efforts in the midfield picking up a team-best 75 ground balls last season, while forcing a team-high 13 turnovers. Kocsis and
Hunter Yerdon also caused 10 turnovers each, while posting 31 and 30 ground balls, respectively.
Kocsis started all 13 games between the pipes totaling 219 saves (16.8/game) posting five games with 20 or more saves and recording double digit saves in all but one game.
Luke DeGaetano,
Andrew Garrett and
Dante Coco all recorded four or more goals last season for Canton.
The Roos welcome 11 new players to the roster including nine freshmen and two sophomores that consist of two goalies, three defensemen, four midfielders and two attackmen.

The Roos will play 16 games this season including nine home games with their home opener Saturday at 1 p.m. against Green Mountain College. Canton opens their season on Wednesday at Bard College at 4 p.m.
