Corey Spuck (Rochester, NY) stopped 18 shots but it was not enough as the men's lacrosse team was unable to overcome an early deficit falling 17-5 to host SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday evening.
The hosts scored the contest's first eight goals behind two goals and three assists from Rob Kunz.
Taylor Caswell (Potsdam, NY) got the Roos on the board with 4:59 to play in the first half on his sixth marker of the season. SUNY Canton trailed 9-1 at intermission as Spuck made 11 first half stops.
The Roos built some momentum at the start of the second frame as
Kyler Wilbur (Syracuse, NY) and
Cam Carter netted (Colonie, NY) back-to-back scores off face-off wins by
Jack Keenan (Brasher Falls, NY). SUNY Canton added a fourth quarter man-up goal as Caswell found
Garrett DiTullio (Potsdam, NY) for his sixth of the year.
Tanner Pratt (Canton, NY) would later add his team-leading 14th goal of the season off the set up from
Ryan Cardiff (Albany, NY).
Spuck turned aside 18 shots, his second highest stop total of the season. Ryan Duffy earned the win for the Bears making three saves. Keenan led all players with eight ground balls, while
Tony Carden (Franklin, MA) had six pick-ups on the night.
