Kingston, NY – Host Bard College used five unanswered goals in the third and fourth quarters to get past the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team in a hard-fought contest Saturday afternoon.
The Raptors (4-0) scored the first two goals of the contest but with 6:11 left in the first the Roos got on the board as
Garrett DiTullio (Potsdam, NY) fed
Taylor Caswell (Potsdam, NY) for his third score of the season. Bard would add another but DiTullio set up a
Cam Carter (Colonie, NY) goal to make it 3-2 in favor of the hosts after one.
After setting up a pair of first quarter scores DiTullio came up on the receiving end just eight seconds into the second when he took a pass from
Jack Keenan (Brasher Falls, NY) and beat Raptor goalie John Henry Glascock to make it 3-3. Caswell and
Jason Thompson (Massena, NY) netted the next two tallies for the Roos as the score moved to 5-5 with seven minutes left in the first half. DJ Peters scored his third consecutive goal to give the Raptors a 6-5 lead at intermission.
Ryan Cardiff (Albany, NY) found the back of the cage for the third time this season in the opening minutes of the third period but Bard took control scoring the contest's next five goals leading to the 12-7 victory.
Corey Spuck (Rochester, NY) stopped six shots in the start while
Dylan Dix (Rochester, NY) replaced him making seven saves over the final 13 minutes. Glascock turned aside 16 shots in the win for Bard.
DiTullio paced the Roos with one goal and three assists, while Caswell scored twice and registered a team-high six ground balls. Seven different players caused a turnover for the SUNY Canton defense.
