Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's hockey team held visiting Hamilton College scoreless for the first half of the contest but the offense was unable to find the back of the net as the hosts fell, 3-0, Sunday evening at the Roos House. The win improves the Continentals to 2-3-0, while the loss drops the Kangaroos to 1-8-1.
 
Neither team could get on the scoreboard in the opening period as the teams combined for 12 shots on goal. The Roo penalty kill unit was strong killing off three penalties and finishing the frame with a remarkable eight blocked shots as they got in the passing and shooting lanes disrupting the Continental power play. Christopher Marsillo (Lincroft, NJ) stopped all seven shots he faced in the first 20 minutes, as it remained scoreless after one.
 
Hamilton got on the board at the 10:30 mark of the second period when Robbie Murden scored his fourth goal of the year. Michael DiMare took an initial shot that was saved by Marsillo but Murden put home the rebound. Four minutes later DiMare added a goal of his own on the power play off passes from Seamus O'Neill and Murden.  The Continentals held a 17-5 shots edge in the second.
 
Murden added his fifth tally of the season and third point of the game 15:13 into the third period as DiMare and Tyler Lovejoy picked up assists. Murden beat a defender and made a beautiful deke in the offensive zone to beat Marsillo for the 3-0 final.
 
The Continentals went 1-for-4 with the skater advantage while the Roos were 0-for-3. SUNY Canton held big edges in faceoffs (36-22) and blocked shots (11-5), while Hamilton outshot the Roos 30-16. Cory Giczewski (Fountain Valley, CA) led the defense with three blocked shots, while Taylor Pickering (Marine City, MI) had two.
 
Marsillo stopped 27 shots for SUNY Canton, while Charlie Fennell turned aside 16 shots in his first action between the pipes for Hamilton.
