(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team received goals from four different players as they doubled up Mercyhurst College 6-3 Saturday afternoon at the Canton Pavilion.
The 22nd-ranked Roos won their fifth straight game improving to 3-0 in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League and 5-0 overall.
SUNY Canton broke a 3-3 tie scoring three unanswered goals in the final nine minutes of the third period. Â
The Roos also scored four power play goals in the game finishing 4-for-8 with the man advantage.
Sophomore forward
Jeremiah Hardin (Alpharetta, Ga.) scored twice and set up two other goals.Â
John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.) also had two goals including the game-winner that started the decisive run in the third period.
AJ Royce (Somers, Conn.) and
Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist apiece and
Adam Fedor (Orleans, Ontario) contributed two assists.
Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.Y.) beat the Lakers for the second straight day finishing with 23 saves to improve to 4-0.
David Gaines had a goal and an assist for Mercyhurst and Ian Ansel also had 23 saves.
The Roos will travel to SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday, Oct. 20 for a non-league game. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Maxcy Hall.
