Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's and women's cross country teams open the season on Saturday at the VTSU Castleton Invitational. The 2026 season marks the Roos third season in the SUNYAC.
 
The Roos kick off the season this weekend in Vermont but after an off weekend will return to Canton on September 19 for the Hoffman Invitational, hosted by St. Lawrence. The teams will then head to Burlington, VT to participate in the Equality Invitational, hosted by St. Michael's College. This year's SUNYAC Championship will be hosted by Oneonta on October 31. "The team has been working hard and looking strong throughout preseason," Head Coach John Kennedy said. "We have quite a few returning runners and several new incoming freshmen with high school 5K PRs in the 17-minute range. It's shaping up to be a great year."
 
The 2026 men's team features nine runners with three returning runners from last season in Wyatt Beers, Justin Bormann, and Calvin Branchaud.
 
The Roos six newcomers feature five freshmen and one sophomore.

The 2026 women's team features seven runners with six returners in Summer Foster, Sophia McKiernan, Nicole Morrow, Sydney Pelerin, Kylie Rivera, and Brielle Smith. The Roos welcome a senior newcomer to the team.
