Colchester, VT – Wyatt Beers and
Brielle Smith led the SUNY Canton men's and women's cross country teams both setting new personal bests at the 8 kilometer distance as the Roos competed at the Equality Invitational hosted by St. Michael's College on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Beers set a personal best covering the 8 kilometer course in 32:50 to finish in 30th place out of 37 runners. Aiden Bartlett was the second Canton runner across the line just seven seconds back of Beers.
- Justin Escudero (32nd – 34:13), Justin Bormann (33rd – 35:32) and Christopher Guyett (36th – 45:52) rounded out the scoring runners for the Roos.
- Canton finished in third place out of the three competing teams with 85 points. University of Vermont (D-I) won the event with 16 points, while host St. Michael's (D-II) was second with 45 points.

- Smith, running her first collegiate 8K covered the course in 38:36 to finish in 22nd place. The Equality Invitational is the only known cross country race this year where the women compete in an 8K race, the same distance as their male counterparts.
- Isabella Bradley (26th – 48:40), Rosemary Burns (27th – 53:16) and Kylie Rivera (28th – 53:18) were the next Canton runners across the line.
- University of Vermont (D-I) won the team title with 20 points ahead of host St. Michael's College (D-II) who was second with 39 points.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos return to the course next Saturday (10/3) when they take part in the Word of Life Huskies Invitational. Women's and men's races are expected to start at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m., respectively.
