SEASON IN REVIEW: 2025 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country

Canton, NY – The men's and women's cross country teams competed in seven races during the 2025 season in their second season as a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

Kristian Johnson led the men in all seven races this fall. Jenna Leschkevich led the women for the first two races, Brielle Smith paced the team over the next four competitions after joining the team in mid-September, and Summer Foster led the Roos in the final race of the season.

Johnson ran back-to-back career best times at the 8-kilometer distance at the Cross Country Only Championships (28:16) on October 18 and at the SUNYAC Championships (28:08) on November 1. Johnson's final four races of the season were all clocked in times of sub 29 minutes. His best placing of the season came when he finished fourth at the Word of Life Bible Institute Invitational (10/4). He was also 15th at both the Colby-Sawyer Invitational (8/30) and the Cross Country Only Championships (10/18).

The men's top team performance of the season came on October 4th when they finished in third place out of the five team field at the Word of Life Bible Institute Invitational.

Leshkevich led the team in the first two races of the season as she clocked a career-best 5K time of 25:29 at the Colby-Sawyer Invitational (8/30) where she finished in 32nd place. She also recorded a 6k career-best at the Word of Life Bible Institute Invitational (30:18) on October 4.

Smith joined the team in mid-September and led the Roos in four consecutive races as her season-best 6K came in a time of 27:26 at the Word of Life Bible Institute Invitational. That race marked the team's lowest score (84) of the season.

Summer Foster, who is also a dual sport athlete on the women's soccer team, ran one race for the Roos at the NCAA Mideast Regionals hosted by St. Lawrence. She clocked a time of 27:59 marking a career-best at the distance.

The Roos are expected to lose Matthew Pietryka, Megan Cowles and Jenna Leshkevich to graduation.
