Geneva, NY – Kristian Johnson and
Brielle Smith led the Roos cross country teams in their respective races at the Cross Country Only Conference Championships on Saturday at Seneca Lake State Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
- Johnson posted a career-best run covering the 8-kilometer distance in 28:16 (5:42/mile), which beat his previous career best of 28:23 at last season's CCOC Championship. He finished in 18th place out of 78 runners.
- Wyatt Beers was the second Roo across the line in 33:11 to place 56th. Other scorers for Canton included Matthew Pietryka (33:17), Justin Bormann (36:11) and Jonathan Bedward (37:04).
- The Roos placed fifth out of five teams with 122 points. Clarkson won the team event with 20 points ahead of Hobart (53) and Paul Smith's (78).
- Clarkson's Drew Reigelsperger won the individual race in a time of 26:06.

- Smith led the women placing 17th in the 6-kilometer race in a time of 27:42 (7:26/mile) out of the field of 47 runners.
- Jenna Leshkevich was the next Roo across the line in 30:47, while Kylie Rivera, Sydney Pelerin and Hannah Lapierre completed the Canton contingent of runners.
- The Roos finished in fourth place out of four teams with 103 points. William Smith (25) edged Clarkson (33) for the team title.
- Morrisville's Elizabeth Lucason won the individual event by over two minutes in a time of 22:15.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are off next weekend before returning to the trails on Saturday, November 1st at the SUNYAC Championships hosted by Plattsburgh State. The men race at 11 a.m. followed by the women at 12 p.m.
