Canton, NY – Kristian Johnson paced the SUNY Canton men's cross country team for the third consecutive race while
Brielle Smith led the women's cross country team in her first collegiate race in the Hoffman Invitational at St. Lawrence University on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the Roos largest meet of the year up to this point, Johnson led with a time a 29:17 in the 8-kilometer course to finish 87th out of 165 runners. Matthew Pietryka finished with a time of 34:01 in 141st place.
- The next three Roos to cross the line were Wyatt Beers (148th – 35:51), Gage Perry (149th – 36:02), and Justin Bormann (152nd – 37:25,
- Nick Lyndaker, the 2025 Indoor Track and Field mile run National Champion, led all runners with a time of 25:15. Queen's University placed four of the top seven and 10 of the top 19 to win the event as a team with 30 points. Middlebury finished in second (51) and hosting St. Lawrence was third (66).
- SUNY Canton finished with a tie for 10th place out of 11 teams right beside Potsdam with both squads getting 298 points.
- Smith paced SUNY Canton with a time of 29:50 in the 6-kilometer-long course to finish in 93rd place out of 118 runners. Jenna Leshkevich had a time of 32:32 and finished 105th to become the second Roo to cross the finish line.
- Megan Cowles (107th – 34:17), Kylie Rivera (116th – 41:26), and Sydney Pelerin (117th – 42:07) rounded out the top five for the Roos.
- Audrey Maclean out of Middlebury led the pack with a time of 21:32. Middlebury won the meet as a team with 27 points with Queen's (30) and St. Lawrence (80) as the second and third teams respectively.
- SUNY Canton finished in ninth place out of nine teams with 291 points
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are off next weekend before returning to the trails at the Word of Life Bible Institute Invitational on October 4th. The women race at 10:15 a.m. followed by the men at 11:15 a.m.
