Johnson & Leshkevich Pace Cross Country Teams in Season-Opener at Colby-Sawyer

New London, NH – Kristian Johnson and Jenna Leshkevich paced the SUNY Canton men's and women's cross country teams in their season-opening races on Saturday at the Colby-Sawyer Charger Invitational.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Johnson covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 17:44 to finish in 15th place out of 54 runners. Matthew Pietryka (31st), Justin Bormann (33rd), Gage Perry (37th) and Wyatt Beers (38th) rounded out the scoring runners for SUNY Canton.
  • The Roos finished in fourth place out of four teams with 97 points just behind St. Joseph's Maine (70). Norwich won the team title with 32 points just edging out Thomas College (33) by a single point.
  • Thomas' Patrick McKenney won the individual race in a time of 16:16.

  • Leshkevich paced the Canton women in a time of 25:27 to finish in 32nd place out of 46 runners. Megan Cowles (30:14), Sophia McKiernan (32:13), Kylie Rivera (33:34) and Sydney Pelerin (35:35) rounded out the Canton competitors.
  • The Roo women finished in sixth place out of six teams with 165 points just behind fourth place Thomas (111) and fifth place Lasell (112). Host Colby-Sawyer won the team title with 39 points, while Norwich (50) and St. Joseph's Maine (52) rounded out the top three.
  • Colby-Sawyer's Adriana Nadeau won the individual event in a time of 19:44.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos return to the trails next Saturday, September 6th, when they take part in the Randolph Knights Maple Syrup Challenge. The women take off at 11 a.m. followed by the men at 12 p.m.
