Bedell & Martin Lead Men’s Golf with 80’s at Clarkson Invitational

Potsdam, NY – Tyler Bedell and Sam Martin paced the SUNY Canton men's golf team as the duo both recorded rounds of 80 at the Clarkson Invitational on Tuesday.

The Roos 'A' team finished in sixth place (327), while the Roos 'B' squad posted an eighth place (337) showing out of the nine-team field.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Martin posted a season-low round, while Bedell matched Martin's 80 in his first collegiate event as both players finished in a tie for 15th place out of 47 golfers.
  • Jake Hess, who led the Roos this past weekend with a fourth place showing at the St. Lawrence Invitational, finished with an 81 (T-20) on Tuesday. Adam Szlamczynski posted an 82 (T-22), Billy LaPierre finished with an 83 (T-27) in his first event, and he was joined by Anthony Marion (T-27) who also recorded an 83.
  • Gavin Neuland shot an 84 (29th), John McCall carded an 88 (T-36), Matthew Headland posted a 91 (41st), and Drew Harmer (T-43) and Cayden Cady (46) tallied a 97 and 103, respectively in their first collegiate events.
  • Szlamczynski, Hess, Martin, Neuland and McCall made up the 'A' team for Canton, while Marion, Bedell, LaPierre, Harmer and Headland made up the 'B' squad with Cady competing as an individual.   
  • St. Lawrence 'A' won the team title with 307 strokes, followed closely by St. Lawrence 'B' (310) and Clarkson Gold 'A' (311). SLU also had a third team competing, Clarkson had a second squad and Oswego State and SUNY Poly had one team each.
   
WHAT'S NEXT
The Roos tee it up again next Tuesday when they take part in the Elmira College Fall Invitational at Elmira Country Club at 11 a.m.
