Szlamczynski Finishes Third, Roos Fourth at Home Invitational

Glennon Leads Women

Canton, NY – Junior captain Adam Szlamczynski carded a round of 4-over par, 76, in rainy and wet conditions to finish in third place at the SUNY Canton Invitational at Partridge Run Golf & Country Club on Tuesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Star Lake native led the Roos finishing just two strokes back of medalist Sam Lyman from St. Lawrence. Jimmy King was second with a 75 for the Saints. Szlamczynski tied for third in the field in par 3 scoring (3.25) and ranked tied for fourth in par 4 scoring (4.30).
  • John McCall posted a round of 80 to tie for 14th individually out of 50 golfers, while Tyler Bedell was right behind him with an 81 (T-16) for the Canton 'B' team. Jake Hess and Sam Martin both posted rounds of 82 tying for 21st.
  • Anthony Marion finished with an 85, Gavin Neuland and Cayden Cady both tallied 87's and Matthew Headland and Drew Harmer finished with an 88 and 89, respectively. Billy LaPierre rounded out the Roos competitors with a 93 for the 'B' team.
  • St. Lawrence 'A' (311) edged Clarkson 'A' (313) for the team title. NVU-Johnson (320) finished in third place, while SUNY Canton 'A' (320) and St. Lawrence 'B' (322) rounded out the top five. The SUNY Canton 'B' team finished eighth with 345 strokes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gwendolyn Glennon paced the Lady Roos. SUNY Canton was the lone team to have a full team with four student-athletes competing, while St. Lawrence featured a three-person squad and Cazenovia had one individual.
  • Glennon led the way for Canton followed by Maddy Thompson. Sirena Alvarez and Olivia Drino also competed for the hosts in rainy conditions.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The men tee it up again this weekend at the two-day Oswego State Fall Invitational at Oswego Country Club on Saturday and Sunday. The women return to the links on Saturday, October 1st at the Northeast Women's Golf Fall Classic at McGregor Links Country Club.
