Roos Finish Second at NAC Championship, Szlamczynski & Marion Named First Team All-Conference; Marion Tabbed Rookie of the Year

Oakland, ME – The SUNY Canton men's golf team recorded a two-day total of 608 strokes to finish in second place out of the 11-team field at the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Golf Championship on Sunday at Waterville Country Club. The second place finish is the highest for the Roos at a NAC men's golf championship.

Adam Szlamczynski (T-4th) and Anthony Marion (T-6th) both earned First Team All-Conference accolades for finishing in the top six individually, while Marion took home NAC Rookie of the Year honors as the top performing rookie in the championship.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Szlamczynski posted a Sunday round of 2-over par 72 to finish with a two-day total of 147 strokes tying for fourth place. He was just five strokes behind the individual medalist Jack King from Husson. Szlamczynski had a pair of birdies on Sunday on the par 5, 3rd hole and the par 4, 15th.
  • Marion followed up his incredible round from Saturday (69) with a 9-over par 79 on Sunday to post a two-day total of 148. He posted four birdies on the par 5, 3rd, the par 4, 4th, the par 4, 10th and the par 4, 15th. Marion finished the two-day championship with the most birdies in the field (7).
  • Jake Hess matched his 76 on Saturday with another 76 on Sunday posting a birdie and eight pars to finish in 13th place out of the 53-golfer field with a 152.
  • John McCall carded a Sunday 80 to finish with a two-day total of 161 finishing in 18th place. Sam Martin improved his scored by three strokes for a Sunday 85 and two-day total of 173 (35th).
  • The Roos (608) trailed only team champion Husson who finished with sub-300 rounds both days recording a 36-hole total of 590. SUNY Delhi (625), Thomas (630) and Maine Farmington (647) rounded out the top five teams.
