Pietryka & Cowles Run Season-Best Times at NAC Championship

Canton, NY – Matthew Pietryka and Megan Cowles ran season-best performances on Saturday as the SUNY Canton men's and women's cross country teams hosted the 2022 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championships on campus.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Brogan LaRose was the first SUNY Canton men's runner across the line covering the 8-kilometer course in a time of 32:53 to finish in 57th place out of the 74-runner field.
  • Pietryka ran an 8K best of 32:58 besting his previous fastest mark by 1 minute, 10 seconds. Ryan Duester was the third Roo across the line in 33:59, while Daniel Ryhal and Tyler Fuentes rounded out the top five in 35:14 and 37:47, respectively.
  • SUNY Canton finished in ninth place with 267 points. SUNY Delhi won the team title with 37 points edging out Maine Farmington (61) and Maine Maritime (71).

  • Lydia Snow was the first Lady Roo across the line in a time of 27:33 to place 21st out of the 57-runner field.
  • Cowles covered the course in 31:48 to place 39th. Lailah Emad (35:52), Mary Townson (42:35) and Taylor Brassard (45:07) rounded out the competing Roos.
  • SUNY Canton finished in eighth place with 194 points. Husson (37) edged out SUNY Delhi (38) by a single point for the team title with Maine Farmington finishing third (93).

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are off next weekend before traveling across town for the NCAA Mideast Regionals hosted by St. Lawrence on Saturday, November 12th. The women race at 11 a.m. followed by the men at 12 p.m.
