Roos Place Three in Top Six En Route to Winning Team Title


Johnson, VT – The SUNY Canton men's cross country team placed three runners in the top six en route to cruising to a first place finish out of the five-team field Saturday at the Johnson State College Invitational.

The Roos finished with a team score of 39 points, besting Paul Smith's College and Johnson State College who tied for second with 54 points. Green Mountain College (101) and Vermont Technical College (115) rounded out the competing teams.

Tom Lauzon (Bombay, NY) once again paced SUNY Canton finishing third overall in a time of 30:26. Sophomore Zachary Doyle (Oneonta, NY) recorded a fifth place finish in 31:15 over the 8-kilometer course. Meanwhile, freshman Shawn Deibel (Albion, NY) was three seconds behind Doyle in sixth place.



Dylan Barringer (Walkill, NY) and Jon Flint (Queensbury, NY) finished in 12th and 13th places, respectively. Brandon Young (Brooklyn, NY) completed a 17th place finish and Andrew Wilson (Bronx, NY) came across the line in 18th place. Dan Loskowitz (Stuyvesant, NY) and Bryant Cotey (Norwood, NY) rounded out the competing runners for the Roos.

The team title is the first for SUNY Canton this season and the fifth for the team in program history. The Roos will return to action Saturday, Sept. 28th when they travel to Utica, NY to compete in the Wildcat Invitational beginning at 12:00 p.m.
