Canton, NY – Raine Rumble, a freshman on the men's golf team, and
Hayden Brimelow, a senior on the men's soccer team, have been named this week's Roos of the Week.
Rumble had a monster week winning one event while setting the SUNY Canton program scoring record and finishing top five in another. In just his third collegiate event he broke the Roos D-III era scoring record shooting 4-under par, 68, to win the Clarkson Invitational on Wednesday. He bested the field of 39 golfers by four strokes to lead the Roos to a first-place team score of 301 as the team also won by four strokes over Clarkson and St. Lawrence (305). Rumble went out in 32 before coming home in 36 as he registered an eagle, five birdies and eight pars on his round. On Saturday and Sunday Rumble shot a 36-hole total of 6-over par, 150, to finish in a tie for fifth place out of 70 golfers at the St. Lawrence Invitational. He finished with five birdies and an eagle on the weekend including holing out for eagle from 148 yards out on the par four ninth hole on Saturday.
Brimelow scored the eventual game-winning goal in a 2-1 win against SUNY Poly on Wednesday. He scored off a free kick bending a shot over the defensive wall and into the top left corner to give Canton the 2-1 lead in the 40th minute which held up. All three of his shots in the match were on goal as he helped lead the Roos to their first win against SUNY Poly since 2017.
