Potsdam, NY – Freshman
Raine Rumble fired a program record round of 4-under par, 68, to earn medalist honors at the Clarkson Invitational at Potsdam Town & Country Club on Wednesday. He bested the field of 39 golfers by four strokes to lead the Roos to a first-place team score with 301 strokes.
The round of 4-under is the lowest in relation to par and the lowest overall score in SUNY Canton D-III school history and in at least the last 15 seasons. Adam Szlamczynski owned the previous low round of 3-under par, 69, at the Clarkson Invitational on September 5, 2023 at the same course.
Anthony Marion posted a round of 1-under, 69, on October 8, 2022 at the NAC Championship at Waterville Country Club. Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rumble went out in 32 before coming home in 36 for his round of 68. He finished his round with an eagle, five birdies, eight pars and four bogeys shooting four under on the front nine and even on the back.
- Marion and Sam Eels tied for seventh place individually with rounds of 3-over par, 75. Kahontiio Lazore (83) and Tyler Martin (86) rounded out the Canton contingent for the 'A' team.
- Owen Sacks paced the 'B' team with a round of 10 over, 82, while Kyle Murphy (88), Mason Dumas (88), Dylan Braswell (91) and Craig Vredenburg (93) competed for the 'B' team. Brody Fuhrey shot a round of 92 as an individual.
- SUNY Canton won the team title with 301 strokes ahead of a three-way tie for second place between Clarkson A (305), St. Lawrence A (305) and St. Lawrence B (305). Clarkson B finished fifth (308) with Oswego sixth (309).
- The team score of 301 is the lowest for the Roos since they also shot 301 in the opening round of the NAC Championship on October 8, 2022. The team's lowest score prior to that was 300 on September 14, 2021 at their home invitational.
