Glennon Finishes 12th at NWGC Championship, Earns Elite Academic Award

Bloomfield, CT – Gwendolyn Glennon recorded a 27-hole score of 135 to finish in a tie for 12th place out of 52 golfers at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Championship on Saturday and Sunday at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course.

Glennon earned the Elite Academic Award for the second consecutive year, which is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest GPA who is competing in the NWGC Championship.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Glennon was tied for 16th place after the opening round with a nine-hole score of 45. Saturday's round was shortened from 18 holes to nine holes due to rain and not all teams being able to complete the full 18-hole round. She recorded a par and six bogeys on Saturday's round.
  • On Sunday Glennon went out in 42 and came home in 48 to card a round of 90. She tallied four pars and a birdie on her 18-hole round.
  • Raven Murphy shot a round of 57 on Saturday with two bogeys and finished with a 117 (59-58) on Sunday with a par and two bogeys to tie for 43rd place individually.
  • SUNY Cortland (510) edged Suffolk (512) for the team title and the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Tournament, while Utica (564) finished third.
  • Suffolk's Ella Torsleff (117) edged Cortland's Gina Milazzo for medalist honors.
