Canton, NY – Trey Miller, a junior on the men's hockey team, and
Lucy Beal, a senior on the women's hockey team, have been named this week's Roos of the Week.
Miller had an impressive outing in his lone start of the week stopping 42 of the 43 shots he faced (.977 save %) as he keyed a 2-1 Canton win at Nazareth on Friday. The junior stopped at least 10 shots in all three periods including a remarkable 19 shots in the final period. The Golden Flyers pulled their goalie for the extra skater with 1:43 remaining and Miller raised his play to another level as he stopped eight shots over the final 1:43 to preserve the one-goal win for the Roos. Through two starts this season Miller is 2-0 with a 1.00 GAA and 968 save %, with those marks ranking first and second in the SUNYAC, respectively, through games played Saturday (11/8).
Beal recorded a team-best seven points with seven assists and a +4 on-ice rating leading the Roos to a weekend sweep against MCLA. She opened the weekend with a game-high four points assisting four of the team's first six goals, with three of those assists being primary assists, in a 9-0 win against the Trailblazers on Friday. The senior closed out the weekend with another game-high three points registering assists on three of the team's five scores in a 5-0 win against MCLA on Saturday. Through games played Saturday (11/8) Beal leads the SUNYAC with eight assists and ranks second with eight points.
