Miller, Pringle and Cremen Push Roos Over Golden Flyers

Rochester, NY – Junior Trey Miller made 42 saves and seniors Evan Pringle and Scott Cremen scored timely goals to give the SUNY Canton men's hockey team a 2-1 road victory over Nazareth University on Friday night.

THE BASICS
  • Result: SUNY Canton 2 | Nazareth 1
  • Location: Tim Horton's Iceplex – Rochester, NY
  • Records: SUNY Canton (3-0-0) | Nazareth (2-1-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Canton opened the scoring at the 14:32 mark of the first period when Niko Schoner collected a rebound in his own end before racing down ice and backhanding a shot just wide of the net.  Pringle, driving to the net, tapped the puck past the sprawling netminder to give the Roos a 1-0 lead.
  • Nate Mann evened the game at 1-1 at 7:11 of the second period, beating Miller blocker side on a point blank shot.
  • Cremen gave the Roos a 2-1 midway through the second period, blasting a slap shot from the top of the circle top corner.  His power play goal was assisted by freshman Colton Alexander and Pringle.
  • The Golden Flyers would pull their goalie with just over a minute remaining in regulation and the teams playing four-on-four.  Nazareth created a number of scoring opportunities with the extra skater but Miller and the defense held to give the Roos the victory.
