Raap Tabbed SUNYAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week

Syracuse, NY – After a strong week in goal, sophomore Joey Raap has been named the SUNYAC Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Raap combined to stop 18 of the 20 shots he faced (.900 save %) as the Roos split a pair of SUNYAC games last week. He opened the week with a seven save shutout, his first career clean sheet, in a 2-0 win against Potsdam on Wednesday. The win was the first ever for the Roos against the Bears in men's soccer as Canton was previously 0-8-1 against Potsdam since joining D-III as full members. On Saturday against Plattsburgh Raap stopped a career-high 11 shots to keep the Roos in the game throughout in an eventual 2-0 loss to the Cardinals (7-2-4). The sophomore now owns a 1.13 goals against average and .864 save % in 10 appearances this season.
