Mosley and Randall Lead Roos at Morrisville

Morrisville, NY – Sophomore Markel Mosley and senior Eric Randall each scored goals for the SUNY Canton men's soccer team but the Roos dropped a 4-2 decision on the road at SUNY Morrisville on Wednesday afternoon. 

 
THE BASICS 

  • Result: SUNY Morrisville 4, SUNY Canton 2  

  • Location: Drake Field – Morrisville, NY  

  • Records: SUNY Morrisville (5-5-3, 2-2-2 SUNYAC) | SUNY Canton (3-12-1, 1-5-0 SUNYAC)  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Malick Gueye opened the scoring for the Mustangs in the 16th minute scoring on a one-timer off the right post. 

  • Morrisville struck again in the 23rd minute with Aaron Chapman flicking a shot off his right heel and over goaltender Joey Rapp. 

  • Mosely scored less than a minute later, collecting a loose ball off a rebound and placing it just inside the right post to cut the deficit to 2-1.  Senior Foster Hutchins earned the assist. 

  • Two goals by the Mustang's Christ Fopossi, one in the first half and the other just into the second, extended Morrisville's lead to 4-1. 

  • Randall's goal was scored with less than one minute remaining in the game. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Mosley and Sophomore Lucas Damon each recorded two shots on goal while Randall and senior Chris Escobar were credited with one shot on goal each. 

  • Rapp made three saves for Canton in 75 minutes of play for the Roos.  Sophomore Jason Vela made one stop for Canton in relief. 

  • Maximo Duran made two first half saves for the Mustanges with Ronaldo Fatolou making one save in the second. 

  • Morrisville had the advantage in shots (14-11) and shots on goal (8-5).  Canton had the edge in corner kicks (5-4) 

WHAT'S NEXT? 
The Roos are back in action on Saturday when they host SUNY Oneonta at 4 p.m.
