Men's Golf Nate Hart, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications & Marketing

Szlamczynski Earns Medalist Honors as Men Finish Second; Glennon Second & Women Third at SUNY Poly

Rome, NY – Senior Adam Szlamczynski captured medalist honors for the second time in his last three events and Anthony Marion record a second-place finish as the SUNY Canton men's golf team finished in second place by a single stroke on Monday at the SUNY Poly Invitational at Teugega Country Club.

Meanwhile, Gwendolyn Glennon, Maddy Thompson and Rowan Cady all recorded season low rounds as the SUNY Canton women's golf team placed third.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN
  • Szlamczynski went out in 2-over par 38 with birdies on the first and seventh holes before coming home in 1-over par 36 with a bird on the 15th hole for a score of 74. He finished in first place out of 41 golfers.
  • Marion posted a 75 with a birdie on the second hole to shoot 37 on the front before posting a 38 on the back nine.
  • John McCall tied for 10th place with an 83 (41-42) with birdies on the fourth and seventh holes. Brody Fuhrey (20th) rounded out the Canton scorers with an 89 (45-44). Tyler Bedell also competed for the Roos posting a 104 (37th).
  • The Roos finished in second place just one shot back of Russell Sage, who saw all four of their scorers shoot rounds of 80.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN
  • Glennon posted a round of 11 over par 83 to finish in second place out of 13 golfers just three strokes out of first. She had a birdie and four pars on the front to go out in 42 before tallying five more pars on the back for a 41.
  • Thompson recorded four total pars for a season-low round of 95 (45-50) to place third overall. Olivia Drino finished in 11th place with a 120, while Raven Murphy was 12th with a 123. Cady rounded out the Roo competitors with a season low score of 135.

The men's golf team returns to action on Friday when they tee it up at the Wells College Classic at 12 p.m. the women are back in action at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Invitational at Shaker Farms Country Club on Saturday at 11 a.m.
