Rome, NY – SUNY Canton holds the team lead after day one of the 2025-26 Empire 8 Fall Men's Golf Championship after posting a team score of 301 strokes on Sunday at Teugega Country Club.
Kahontiio Lazore is tied for first place after carding a round of 73 (+3), while
Raine Rumble posted a round of 74 (+4) and sits just one shot off the lead in the field of 48 golfers. The second round of the championship will take place on Monday at Teugega Country Club with the final two rounds to take place in the spring.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lazore posted a 73 with a 38 (+2) on the front nine and a 35 (+1) on the back nine as he recorded two birdies, 12 pars, three bogeys and a double.
- Rumble shot 38 on the front and 36 on the back with one birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys.
- Sam Eells and Anthony Marion are tied for 10th place after rounds of 77. Eells (37-40) posted two birdies and 10 pars to go with four bogeys and two doubles. Marion (38-39) registered 12 pars, five bogeys and a double.
- Tyler Martin sits in a tie for 32nd after shooting an 83 (43-40) as he carded two birdies, while Mason Dumas is 42nd with an 89 (44-45).
- Canton leads the team event with 301 strokes, while Russell Sage (304) is second and Nazareth is third (306). St. John Fisher (308) and Utica (312) round out the top five.
