SUNY Canton Earns #1 Seed for NAC Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, Set to Host

Waterville, ME – SUNY Canton closed out the regular season with an unblemished conference record and the top seed for the 2022 NAC Women's Lacrosse Championship tournament.

The Roos (7-0 NAC, 10-6 overall) will host a four-team tournament next weekend, April 30, and May 1, 2022. The hosts will face fourth-seeded Thomas College (4-3, 6-8) in a semifinal matchup on Saturday. The other semifinal game, between #2 Cazenovia College (5-1, 7-5) and #3 Maine Maritime Academy (5-2, 7-7), features a rematch of today's double-overtime decision that the Wildcats narrowly won.

As the #1 seed, Canton can choose to play the first or second semifinal game on Saturday. Victors from the semifinals on April 30 will compete for the conference championship on Sunday, May 1. Game times will be finalized on Monday, April 25, and updated on the NAC website.

The 2022 women's lacrosse championship event is the first since Canton won the 2019 title over UMaine-Farmington during their inaugural season in the league. The 2020 championship did not occur due to the pandemic, and the 2021 championship was not completed due to pandemic-related protocols.

The Roos, Mariners, Terriers, and Wildcats collected a combined 19-out-of-20 weekly awards this spring and are expected to play a competitive championship tournament. The NAC champs will represent the conference in the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse tournament.
