Canton, NY – There were many memorable moments from the year of 2021 for the SUNY Canton Athletics department including participating in its seventh year as a full-time member of NCAA Division III and fourth year in the North Atlantic Conference. 2021 HIGHLIGHTS (GEN/WHOC): Laitinen's Goal Featured on ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10 Plays



Canton, NY – Sophomore assistant captain Iida Laitinen's team-leading seventh goal of the season was a thing of beauty and ESPN took notice as the nifty dangle and snipe appeared on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays on Thanksgiving morning on November 25th.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (GOLF): Marshall Shoots 2-Under, Roos Win SUNY Canton Invitational; Szlamcynski, Hess & Bannister All Tie for Second
 

Canton, NY – Senior Josh Marshall carded a round of 2-under par, 70, on September 14th as he and the Roos won the SUNY Canton Invitational at Partridge Run Golf & Country Club. Marshall's round tied the lowest round of any SUNY Canton golfer in at least the last 11 years.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (WBB): Raven's Third Double-Double Leads Women's Hoops Past Clarkson, 69-54



Potsdam, NY – Senior Chelsey Raven recorded her third double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the SUNY Canton women's basketball team to a 69-54 road win at Clarkson University on November 23rd.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (MHOC): Diamond's 18 Saves & Goals from Lanceleve, Sipperley & Bannister Lead Roos Past Potsdam, 3-1



Canton, NY – Pierce Diamond made 18 saves on the night and Carson Lanceleve, Colton Sipperley and Brett Bannister scored goals as the SUNY Canton men's hockey team earned a 3-1 win v. SUNY Potsdam on December 10th.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (WHOC): Best Scores Twice as Women's Hockey Remains Perfect with First Win v. Morrisville


 
Canton, NY – Meaghan Best tallied a pair of goals and Verity Lewis recorded a pair of assists to lead the SUNY Canton women's hockey team to a 4-2 Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) win v. Morrisville State on November 12th.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (SB): Knapp Perfect at Plate as Chavarri's Pitching Leads Softball Past St. Lawrence in Opener, 11-3



Canton, NY – Jordan Knapp went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate and Kayla Chavarri provided a strong outing on the mound as the SUNY Canton softball team earned an 11-3 win v. St. Lawrence University in their season opener on March 24th.

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton Overwatch team won SUNY Canton's first ever State University of New York (SUNY) Esports championship when it defeated Alfred State College on May 10th in the Spring 2021 semester title match.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (MLAX): LaDuke's 21 Saves & Balanced Offense Lead Men's Lacrosse to Key NAC Win v. Delhi



Canton, NY – Justin LaDuke had a strong outing with 21 saves and four different Roos scored two or more goals as the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team picked up an important 14-8 NAC win v. SUNY Delhi on April 3rd.

Canton, NY – Samantha Dayter posted game-highs of four goals and two assists as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team earned an 11-9 win v. visiting Cazenovia College in both team's NAC opener on April 8th.

Canton, NY – Agustin Nunez scored his first career goal in thrilling fashion as he split a scoreless tie 6 minutes, 32 seconds into overtime to lift the SUNY Canton men's soccer team to a 1-0 win v. Bard College on September 4th.

Canton, NY – Ogdensburg native Kelsey Pinkerton netted her second goal of the season as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win v. SUNY Poly in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on October 3rd in Canton.

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton baseball team picked up a crucial NAC sweep as they defeated SUNY Cobleskill 5-4 in extra innings before earning a 9-4 win in the nightcap on April 24th.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (WVB): Werner and Adams Lead Volleyball to NAC Sweep v. Cazenovia & SUNY Poly



Canton, NY – Cassidy Werner and Alyssa Adams led the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team with 10 and 9 kills in Saturday's opener and nightcap, respectively, as the Roos swept Cazenovia and SUNY Poly in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) crossover in the Roos House on September 25th.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (MBB): Santana and Fitch Post Double-Doubles as Four Roos Reach Double Figures in NAC Win v. Wildcats; Fitch Moves into Top 25 All-Time in NCAA D-III Blocks



Canton, NY – Seniors Danny Santana and Andrew Fitch both recorded double-doubles as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team earned an 83-72 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win v. Cazenovia on December 4th. With his 15 blocks on the weekend Fitch moved into the top 25 in a pair of career statistical categories for NCAA Division III.

Waterville, ME – Senior Katlynn Allen raced to a seventh-place finish to lead the SUNY Canton women's and men's cross country teams at the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship hosted by Thomas College in Maine on October 30th.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS (CHEER): Cheerleading Appears at First Game Since Pandemic Began



Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton cheerleading team got back to action as it cheered on the men's basketball team at their home opener v. SUNY Poly on December 3rd. It was the first sporting event showcasing the Roos cheerleading squad since the pandemic began.
