Canton, NY – Freshman
Jeffrey Gauld's first career goal was a thing of beauty and ESPN's SportsCenter recognized the nifty dangle and finish top shelf on its Top 10 plays on Saturday, October 27th.
The play was rated No. 2 on the midnight showing on Saturday at 12:00 a.m. and was then rated No. 5 Saturday morning when hockey fans around the country woke up. Gauld's slick score made it 2-2 in an eventual 6-4 win for the Roos in their season opener v. Wilkes University.
"I was down low there; their D went up and
Max Routledge saw me there," Gauld said. "I was just kind of thinking do the move and I just went for it. It's good to be on SportsCenter!"
"That play really jump started our guys and helped lead us to a big win on opening night in front of our alumni," Head Men's Hockey Coach
Alex Boak said.
"Getting the play on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays is great exposure for not only Jeff, but our team and university as a whole," Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing
Nate Hart said. "The whole village of Canton was buzzing and people across the region and country have taken notice and are proud of SUNY Canton."
