HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos wasted no time carrying momentum over from their 9-1 win against the Cougars the previous day scoring three times in less than four minutes to start the contest.
- Canton got things started at 1:13 of the first period when Ethan Rosenoff won the draw at the right circle and played the puck towards the crease where it was touched by Trevor Dalton and finished off by Colton Alexander at the far post.
- The Roos doubled their lead just over a minute later when Jackson Drysdale picked off a Cougar clearance attempt to the left of the left circle and played a cross-ice pass to Schoner who buried his first of the night and fourth of the weekend setting Canton's new D-III era scoring mark.
- At 3:48 the Roos concluded the early onslaught of scoring when Logan Kelly played the puck to Paul Schilcher at the left point. He swung a cross-ice pass to Samuel Moshurchak at the right point. He fired a shot through traffic out in front where Spencer Sasenbury appeared to screen the Misericordia goaltender giving Canton the 3-0 lead on the Moshurchack tally.
- The hosts got on the board scoring shorthanded off the stick of Devin England at 12:24 of the period.
- The Roos responded netting a pair of power play goals from Schoner in the final three minutes of the period to lead 5-1 after 20 minutes of action. Nolan Zotter and Joshua Rumolo assisted the first extra attacker goal with Schilcher and Zotter picking up assists on the second power play marker.
- Misericordia scored the next three goals of the contest as Jonathan Lush netted the lone second period goal and Marko Petras and Liam Schaentzler recorded scores in the first 11 minutes of the third to get the Cougars within 5-4.
- Alexander netted a key insurance goal, his second of the day, at 15:44 of the third skating 4-on-4 to give Canton a 6-4 lead. Spencer Sasenbury and Nolan Wytrykusz picked up helpers on the play.
- Sacha Trudel picked off a pass near the Roos defensive blue line and buried an unassisted empty-netter with 1:31 remaining for the 7-4 final.
