Emerson Coulter tallied an impressive 30 digs with 26 kills across two matches as the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 on the season, defeating Curry College and Fisher College in Milton, MA on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
MATCH 1 - BOX SCORE
- The Roos got off to a hot start against Curry in the first set of the day, jumping to a 14-7 lead. The Colonels soon put together a run of five consecutive points, shrinking their deficit to just two. The Roos eventually came out to a 17-12 lead, before scoring eight of the last 11 points to close out Curry in the first set, 25-15.
- The second set of the match proved to be a back-and-forth battle. After the Roos leapt to a 10-6 advantage, Curry battled back, harnessing momentum to take a 20-17 lead of their own. A clutch kill from Clara Bond helped inspire a comeback for the Roos as they evened the score at 22 apiece, however, the Colonels eventually broke away, claiming the second set by a score of 26-24.
- Canton came into the third set looking to bounce back. The Roos played from behind for nearly the entire stanza, at one point facing a 20-16 deficit. Bond and Coulter ignited a comeback with a kill and ace, respectively, as Canton took their first lead at 24-23. The Roos closed out the set 27-25, scoring the final three points of the set.
- The Roos made light work of the Colonels in the final frame of the match. Three kills from Bigelow, as well as two from Tionna Edghill, fueled Canton's victory over Curry, 25-16.
MATCH 2 - BOX SCORE
- SUNY Canton began their second match of the day against Fisher College earning an 8-6 lead over the Falcons in set one. An eight-point run by Fisher put the Roos down 14-8. Despite Canton reducing their gap to two points on multiple occassions, Fisher eventually claimed the first set by a margin of nine as they scored eight of the final nine points.
- The second set saw the Roos leading 19-12. Canton maintained a solid pace throughout the rest of the set as their lead never fell below four points. A pair of kills from Viv Seija and Coulter evened out the series at 1-1.
- SUNY Canton's 22-17 lead late in the third set proved to be unsustainable. Three kills from Natalia Ramirez gave the Falcons life as they scored 10 of the next 13 points, taking the set 27-25. Canton answered with a 25-12 routing in the following bout to once again tie the series, this time at 2-2.
- The Roos secured their victory over Fisher with a tight two-point win in the deciding set, 17-15. Canton scored four straight points to lead 14-11 at match point before the Falcons responded with four consecutive points of their own forcing match point. Canton hung tough and finished off the match with three straight points that included a kill from Coulter and an ace from Madalena Balisciano.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Coulter's 18 kills against Fisher are tied for ninth-most in a single match in SUNY Canton D-III era history. She was one kill shy of her career best.
- Rylan Walker's career-high 32 digs against Fisher are tied for seventh-most in a single match in the Roos D-III era history. Walker added six aces and three assists vs. the Falcons.
- Raven tallied 19 kills, five aces, and two blocks across today's matches.
- Kaelyn Boliver recorded 32 total assists in today's matches, with 22 coming against Fisher.
- The team's 3-0 start marks their best start to a season since 2018 when they began the season 5-0.
