Johnson, VT – Junior outside hitter Emerson Coulter surpassed 500 career kills on Saturday afternoon as the Roos faced VTSU Johnson in a doubleheader. Senior captain Abby Raven reached the 100 career mark for service aces early in the first match of the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
MATCH 1 – BOX SCORE

• The Roos faced a 7-2 deficit early in the first contest of the day before scoring six of the next seven points to tie things at eight apiece. A back-and-forth first frame saw Canton down 19-16 before a kill by Madison Bigelow decreased the Badgers lead to two. A five-point run put Johnson up prior to back-to-back kills from Bigelow, tightening the score. The Badgers eventually took set one, 25-19.
• The second stanza began with an early 4-2 Roos lead fueled by an ace from Bigelow and a kill from Clara Bond. Moments after the Badgers took a 15-13 advantage, Canton reclaimed their place atop the scoreboard with a run of six points, including back-to-back aces from Madalena Balisciano. Johnson countered with five scores of their own. Amid a tight 20-19 contest, Canton answered with six of the next seven points to take set two.
• Facing an 11-8 deficit to start the third set, McKenna Pelech's second kill of the day brought SUNY Canton within two. Johnson maintained their pressure before a kill from Bond gave Canton a late one-score edge at 21-20. The Badgers bounced back, taking their second set of the match after tallying five of the last six points.
• The fourth stanza was crunch time for Canton as they jumped to a 17-13 edge, fueled by a pair of aces from Olivia Tran. Coulter and Balisciano combined for three of the team's last five points to even the match at two sets apiece. With both squads at an 11-11 stalemate, Johnson went on to narrowly edge out the Roos in the twilight moments of the final set to take match one.

MATCH 2 – BOX SCORE

• SUNY Canton found themselves down 16-13 midway through the first stanza, the largest lead of the set by either squad. With Johnson leading 22-20 the Roos went on to win six of the final eight points, including the final four, to secure the first set 26-24.
• A 9-9 standoff in the second set was broken by five consecutive points from the Roos. Canton kept their foot on the gas, building an 18-13 advantage capped off by a kill from Bond, assisted by Kaelyn Boliver. A late push from the Badgers made it a 21-19 contest before the Roos took the next three points. Johnson scored once more before Sieja closed things out with a kill.
• Refusing to go down without a fight in the match's final stages, VTSU Johnson strung together five scores to go up 15-12 in the third frame. Canton remained steadfast, eventually finding themselves in a 22-18 uphill battle, where they went on to outscore Johnson 8-2, completing the sweep 26-24 to round out the second contest of the afternoon.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Coulter tallied 21 kills on the day propelling her to 511 in her career, good for ninth place all-time in the SUNY Canton D-III era record book.
• Raven amassed 13 kills in Saturday's action while hitting the century mark in career service aces between her time with the Roos and at Jefferson Community College.
• Sieja led all players on the court with a career-high 12 kills in SUNY Canton's victory in match two.
• Boliver topped the stat sheet with 16 assists and three aces in the second match.
• Tran put on a defensive showcase with 24 digs in the closing match.
