Clara Bond combined for 14 kills as the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team took down visiting Paul Smith's in a 3-0 sweep in Tuesday's season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos kicked off the first set of the afternoon with a 4-0 start, fueled by a pair of aces by Rylan Walker. Paul Smith's tightened the score with three consecutive points before Canton scored 14 of the next 18, pulling ahead 18-7. The Bobcats continued to battle, but Walker's third ace and a pair of kills by Emerson Coulter earned Canton the set, 25-10.
- The second set began with two aces out of the gate from Kaelyn Boliver as the Roos jumped to a 9-3 lead. Kills from Raven, Coulter, and Ava Buggs-Morehouse added to Canton's total. Paul Smith's continued to linger until the Roos tallied 14 of the next 19 points. Four consecutive aces from Viv Sieja finished off the second set in favor of the Roos, 25-9.
- Canton remained hot to begin the final set, going on a 6-1 scoring run capped off by an ace from Madalena Balisciano. The Bobcats fought back, scoring four straight points to narrow their deficit. The Roos responded, scoring 10 of the next 12 points including two kills from Sieja. Canton continued to extend their lead before back-to-back aces from Balisciano ended the third set 25-12, securing a 3-0 sweep.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Raven led all players with six kills, adding two aces.
- Coulter totaled four kills on a .667 hitting percentage, alongside two aces.
- Bond added four kills of her own.
- A solid defensive effort saw Boliver tally seven digs, as well as six from Coulter, and four from Walker.
- Boliver recorded a match-best 14 assists with Balisciano adding eight.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos travel to the New England region for three contests this weekend beginning with back-to-back matches against Curry (2 PM) and Fisher (4 PM) on Friday. Both matches will be hosted by Curry. The team will visit Trinity College (12 PM) on Saturday.
