New Paltz, NY – The SUNY Canton softball team headed down to New Paltz to play the Hawks in a doubleheader Thursday, but dropped both contests in southern New York.
In game one, the Hawks put one five runs in the first frame, and it did not get any better later in the game for the Roos as they fell 18-0. Game two was a bit milder, but New Paltz jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three innings to end game two prematurely again, 10-0, after five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- Four hits along with a few free passes gave New Paltz an early advantage in game one as they went up 5-0.
- In the second inning, a leadoff triple followed by a hit-by-pitch, a single, and a double led to three runs scoring as the Hawks were ahead 8-0. New Paltz led 17-0 after three.
- Now 18-0 in the fifth, Bridgette Fox gave SUNY Canton their first baserunner in the frame with a double out to center field, but the Roos could not supplement her on the bases, falling after five innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- Fox, starting on the mound in game two, pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the first, but the Hawks started to string together some hits in the second, giving themselves a 7-0 lead.
- New Paltz scored three more times in the third, but Fox responded with a three-up, three-down fourth inning.
- The Roos, however, struggled getting on base throughout the game with Emily Hobart's walk in the fifth as the lone SUNY Canton player on base. The Roos dropped the back end of the twin bill 10-0.

The Roos will head out Oneonta to play a doubleheader against the Red Dragons tomorrow, April 24 at 3 and 5 p.m.
