HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- It was a tough first inning for the Cedar Crest defense, and with three errors plus a walk in the first five batters, the Roos were on the board without the benefit of a hit.
- This was followed by back-to-back singles from Ava Bouchey and Cassandra Forrest, each leading to an additional run as the Roos were able to plate three in the first.
- However, this lead did not last for very long, with the Falcons putting together a big inning in the bottom of the first to score four and take a 4-3 advantage.
- After the chaos of the first inning, things toned down a bit. Brigitte Fox on the mound settled in and put together three scoreless innings.
- Unfortunately, though, things were not the same in the fifth inning after the Falcons led off the inning with an inside-the-park home run. A walk later came around to score on a sacrifice fly and suddenly the Falcons were doubling up the Roos 6-3.
- Beyond the first, the Roos had only two hits over the next five innings, those being a base knock from Bouchey in the third, and a single in the fourth off the bat of Marquart.
- Down three runs in the bottom of the seventh, Rylynn Martin-McIntyre had hit a shallow flyball into left field which the Cedar Crest defender made a diving play on but could not corral the ball. Martin-McIntyre used her speed to reach third base for a triple.
- Although, two popouts kept the sophomore stranded at third, then a groundball concluded the Roos penultimate game in Myrtle Beach, losing 6-3 to the Falcons.
- Bouchey paced the Roos with two hits while Fox finished with five innings of three earned runs and Arianna Steele pitched a shutout frame.
- Hits were 6-5 in favor of the Falcons. SUNY Canton committed two errors and Cedar Crest made four blunders in the field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- After both sides went silent in the first inning, the Knights got on the board in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs.
- In the top of the third, Marquart reached on an infield hit, and then later, a sac bunt by Ace Rogers was dropped over at first and sent into right field as Rogers reached and Marquart scored on the error.
- Later in the inning with two on, Fox smashed a two-base hit into right center field and the Roos jumped out in front 3-2.
- However, Arcadia wasted no time loading the bags in the bottom of the frame, and a two-run single gave the Knights the lead back at 4-3.
- The Roos tied it back up in the top of the fourth off an errant throw on a stolen base attempt and Forrest reached home base to tied it at 4.
- Unfortunately for SUNY Canton though, the relentless offense from the Knights continued to give them runs, with Arcadia scoring once in the bottom of the fourth, again in the fifth, and then twice in the sixth to take an 8-4 advantage.
- The Roos could not work much magic in the final few fames, and despite a hit by pitch from Molly Dowson in the seventh, SUNY Canton dropped the contest 8-4.
- Marquart tallied a pair of hits in the contest to get up to three on the day. Sydney Tanner had a nice showing on the mound with 5.2 innings pitched allowing just one earned run.
- Arcadia outhit the Roos 8-4, but both teams only scored one earned run in the contest thanks to 11 combined errors.
