Canton, NY – The 2026 SUNY Canton baseball team will couple 18 returners with 18 newcomers under Roos second year Head Coach
Ryan Stevens.
After a doubleheader on Saturday (2/21) at Houghton was canceled, the Roos will now open the season the following weekend when they are scheduled to visit SUNY Poly for a doubleheader.
SUNY Canton then heads south to Myrtle Beach for the Ripken Baseball Experience where they are scheduled for eight games during their spring break week (3/7-13). The Roos then play a single game against Elmira in Cortland followed by three doubleheaders against Baruch (3/20), Lehman (3/21) and Utica (3/25). The team opens SUNYAC play on March 27 at Oswego. SUNY Canton returns
Sal Diaz who was named D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Third Team All-Region and Second Team All-SUNYAC last season. He led the team in batting average (.362), hits (34), doubles (10), home runs (3), RBI (25) slugging % (.585) and on-base % (.426).
Eliezer Vazquez also returns after hitting .352 with 32 hits, , six doubles, two homers and 18 RBI last season reaching base at a .410 clip.
Lance Phillips Jr. earned Second Team All-SUNYAC accolades last season hitting .305 with 25 hits, six doubles, 11 RBI and a .424 on-base %.
AJ Campi also returns after hitting nearly .300 with 26 hits, a team-best 20 runs, eight doubles, a triple, and 11 RBI last season.
Canton will look for some new contributors on the mound as a majority of their pitchers earning wins last season have graduated. Campi (15.0) and
Maxwell Rose (21.2) combined to toss nearly 37 innings last season.
The Roos 2026 roster couples 18 returners with 18 newcomers and will be captained by
Mark Maybee Jr.,
Lance Phillips Jr.,
Zander Johnson, Eliezer Vazquez and
Sal Diaz. The new players feature two juniors, two sophomores and 14 freshmen. The newcomers are listed below in numerical order.
