Canton, NY – Emerson Coulter and the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team earned a win against Cobleskill in their first SUNYAC matchup of the season, defeating the Fighting Tigers in a five-set contest.
Coulter recorded a career-high 22 kills in the team's win, the third-most in a match in the SUNY Canton D-III era.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos came out hot to kick off the match, coming out to a 7-2 advantage following a run of four points, including kills by Tionna Edghill and Madison Bigelow. Finding themselves up 12-8, Canton tacked on six of the next seven points to go up ten.
- Both squads traded scores until a four-point streak for the Tigers slashed the Roos lead to five. The final three points went to the host as SUNY Canton took set one, 25-17, sealed by an Ava Buggs-Morehouse kill.
- Cobleskill came into the second stanza looking to get even, taking an 11-4 lead. Facing a 15-9 deficit, the Roos hit back with five consecutive scores to tighten the race.
- An eventual 16-16 tie was broken by three scores for the Tigers. The teams traded kills before Canton put together a three-point run of their own, tying things at 20 apiece. Five of the next six points went to Cobleskill to even the series at 1-1.
- The Kangaroos held a 9-8 edge amid the third game, tacking on four back-to-back points to strengthen their advantage, including kills from Clara Bond, Coulter, and Abby Raven. Alternating scores brought the contest to 16-11 before the Fighting Tigers stole eight of the next nine scores to take control.
- Trailing 19-17, Canton snatched seven of the next nine points to reclaim possession of the scoreboard. Coulter went on to seal the deal with her sixth kill of the stanza to push the Roos past the finish line.
- The fourth game was an offensive slugfest with ten runs of 3+ scores by both teams. Cobleskill's opening three-point streak was countered by a barrage of seven points for the Roos. Both crews swapped runs of three before the visitors snatched 11 of the next 13 points, tipping the scales to go up 17-12. The Tigers emerged from the ensuing back-and-forth with emphasis, stringing together a six-point flurry to come within one score of a win.
- Canton clawed back with five consecutive points to cut their late disadvantage to three before Cobleskill capped off set four with a kill.
- The Roos attack found their footing in the final stanza, topping the Fighting Tigers 9-4 at the midway point. SUNY Canton went on to secure the conference victory, 15-10.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Coulter's career-high 22 kills are good for third all-time in SUNY Canton D-III history. The outside hitter added 15 digs and six total blocks defensively.
- Kaelyn Boliver's 30 set assists mark a new career best, beating her previous mark of 27 (10/3 vs. Oswego). The freshman setter leads the Roos in assists through their 2026 campaign with 320. Boliver added eight digs on the defensive side.
- Buggs-Morehouse stood tall defensively with three solo blocks and two block assists while also contributing eight kills to the scoreboard.
- Canton joins Plattsburgh, Buffalo State and Fredonia at 1-0 in SUNYAC play thus far.
