SEASON IN REVIEW: 2025 Women’s Soccer

Canton, NY – The women's soccer team competed in 18 matches in their second season in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) during the 2024 season.

Elly Gamble scored the Roos first goal of the season in a non-conference tilt against SUNY ESF on September 6th. Sophomore Mackenzie Ryan stopped a career-high 18 shots in a loss against St. Lawrence on September 16th. She would later add to that total stopping 19 at Cortland on October 22nd.

The Roos played a pair of tight SUNYAC games dropping identical 2-0 contests against Plattsburgh (10/11) and Morrisville (10/15). Ryan combined to make 17 saves in the two outings.

Canton wrapped up their season with their best performance of the season, a dominating 9-0 win against VTSU Lyndon on October 29th. The Roos held advantages in shots (83-0), shots on goal (41-0) and corner kicks (11-0).



Maddie Armstrong led the team with two goals and an assist, while Ella O'Neil had four assists. Gamble and Andrea Cary tallied two goals each, while Chloe Thomas, Kenadie Garrow and Sam Scott also found the back of the net.



   
Following the season Sydney Hoefer, Megan Hogancamp and Cary were all named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District. To be eligible for the honor student-athletes need to maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, have participated in at least 90 percent of their team's contests (or sets) or started 66% of their team's matches.

Gamble led the Roos with six points on the season in the form of three goals, while Armstrong had five points on two goals and an assist. Ryan started 17 matches in net recording 153 saves and a .648 save %, while Summer Foster also made a pair of starts.
   
The Roos are expected to lose Hogancamp, O'Neil, Cary, Shannon Platt, Caitlin Kelly and Meah Boyles to graduation.
